Choosing The Right Mower for Your Yard

Types of Mowers

There are many different types of mowers that you can buy. However, choosing the right mower for your home depends a great deal upon the size of your yard. Many consumers do not consider the many factors involved when buying a lawn mower they will just buy a “standard mower” because they are everywhere and can be easily replaced with the lawn mower replacement parts. Most people classify an engine based self propelled mower as a standard mower. However there are many types of mowers that you can choose from and some are less used but just as good.

The first out of the three different types of mowers we’ll look at the “standardized mower”. The self propelled mower is a favorite by most suburban people. This is because their lawn is a decent sized and they don’t feel like pushing it after having to work all week. They are also very easy to maneuver. With the mower being self propelled it does most of the work for you. You simply have to walk along with it and cut. One downside to these mowers is that they use gas. This means that they pollute the environment. The other huge downside is that they make a lot of noise. This means if you want to mow your lawn in the early morning while it is cool out you will have neighbors that may not be happy with you.

The second out of the three types of mowers is the riding lawn mower. The riding lawn mower is the most convenient out of the three different types of mowers. However a riding lawn mower isn’t for everyone. Riding lawn mowers are big, bulky, and hard to maneuver. This means that for most yards in the city that they are too large to use. Riding lawn mowers are best for houses with large yards or houses in the country. They can cut through longer grass without a problem. The main downside to a riding lawn mower is the amount of maintenance that has to be done to it.

The third and final of the three types of mowers is the reel mower. The reel mower was the first and original mower that was used for cutting grass residentially. The mower has become less popular as technology has advanced however it is still a very viable solution for mowing your grass. The mower doesn’t use any gas and is propelled by the user. Many people believe these mowers are heavy however the new versions of the reel mowers have been made lightweight. While reel mowers are not the best solution for everyone they do work well for small lots or city homes as you don’t have to worry about the noise and pollution that you do with the other mower types. Nor do you have to worry about maintenance costs such as oil. Now that you know that certain types of lawn mowers are only good for certain situations you can choose the type of mower that is best suited for your yard and home.
