When to Use a Gas Pressure Washer

Gas Pressure Washer

When your pressure washer is not driven by electricity, then it must be fueled by one of the three remaining options: diesel, petrol and gas. Because gas has been around for a long time, it remains a household and industrial favorite in various parts of the globe. Still, when exactly should you use a gas pressure washer? Check out the following considerations.

When electricity is unavailable and unadvisable

You may find electricity an indispensable commodity. However, there will always be a few instances when using one is out of the question. Coils of electrical cord and several extension wires significantly reduce the safety level of outdoor working areas such as a ranch or your very own backyard. You could get electrocuted; you could trip and you could expend precious energy and time trying to plug and unplug the cord. Using a gas pressure washer eliminates these inconveniences in one practical swipe.

When cost and cleanliness matter

Aside from sporting the heftiest price tag, diesel produces dirty emissions and requires frequent equipment cleaning. Petrol follows as the cheaper, quieter and cleaner option; however, it cannot match the diesel’s torque or moment of force. Last comes gas, the least powerful but the cheapest and cleanest fuel among the three. Do not be dissuaded by the phrase “least powerful” however. A gas pressure washer can generate up to seven horsepower of cleaning and can be several folds more powerful than its electric counterpart.

When space is not an issue

One of the biggest drawbacks of a gas pressure washer is the space requirement needed for using and storing the item. This is because the power of the tool is inversely proportional to its portability. The more powerful the engine is, the bulkier and less convenient it is to transport and lug around. In addition, the space must be well ventilated and must be a strictly no-smoking zone. The pressure from a cluttered storage room can induce a barrage of accidents such as suffocation and explosion. Remember two things: First, unless you want to blow your house or apartment off, do not operate a gas pressure washer inside the building. Second, you need more than an ordinary closet to store the gas pressure washer.

When power cleaning is a must

Power cleaning literally involves blasting water on target surfaces and extremely huge areas. Measured as pounds in square inch (PSI), the high pressure of the washer works in tandem with a greater water flow which is measured in gallons per minute (GPM). The gas pressure washer relies on a pressure pump to intensify pressure and to spurt water in a steady stream so that nasty grime, hardened dirt, major stains and heavy grease may be eliminated upon impact in the shortest period possible. For dramatically fast cleaning, you may want to combine with caution some sand and some cleaning solution with the water. The downside is that the powerful blasts may scar surfaces. Exclude from your power cleaning spree any fragile items, no matter how grimy they may be: flimsy wooden boards, glass window panes and dainty ceramic slabs.
