Pressure Washers at Work in a Car Wash System

Car Wash Systems

Gone are the days when gasoline boys and pretty girls will offer to wash your car by hand. Today, when time is of the essence, a neat car wash system can take care of your car-cleaning needs in record time. The secret: relying on pressure washers to reduce work time and to increase cleaning efficiency. This page lists some of the most common components in the system that pressure washers are behind of:

  • Booms - Booms as pressure washers consist of either bent or straight stainless steel pipes with a rotating extension wand appended on the tip. The wand sprays water, foam or air (or a combination of all three), giving your car the shower and blow drying it needs. Booms may be mounted on the wall or ceiling. Because they eliminate the need to lug around cumbersome hoses, booms make your car wash system hub less inviting of accidents and more pleasing to the eyes.

If you are planning to get an entire boom package for your car wash system, you have two options: to get one with a single boom or another with a pair of booms. The accessories that go with either boom package are basically the same and may consist of any combination of the following accessories: steel solid wand and holder, nozzle with guard, weep gun and mounts.

  • Pump Stations - The heart of a car wash system, pump stations are like an all-in-one pressure washer that allows you to perform a variety of tasks. These tasks can be classified either as self-serving or automated. Self-serving stations are operated manually, while automated stations are activated with a single push of a button or lever to launch the application sequence from start to finish. Applications may include power-washing the vehicle, soaping, and rinsing off the foam.

You may customize your car wash system to fit your specific needs and preferences, adding and removing accessories as you deem fit. However, if there are two accessories that you cannot afford to dispense of, these would be a high pressure hose and a pressure adjustment valve to give you better control of the pressure and water outflow.

  • Tire Inflators - Similar to pump stations, tire inflators make use of a pressure hose and some pressure adjustment valve to inflate car tires. A major difference between regular pressure washers and tire inflators is that while pressure washers commonly squirt a pressurized stream of liquid and occasional solids, tire inflators compress then release air which your bicycle, motorcycle or truck tires need. In addition, should you wish to pass on booms and opt to do some manual power-drying by yourself, you can use tire inflators to do the job.

Since the tool is a stand-alone item, it sports greater portability than booms or pumping stations which need to be securely installed or are too heavy to be moved from one area to another.

Pressure washers are an indispensable component of any car wash system. No matter what the task is, they can help you get the job done.
